A stroke of absolute luck meant that I discovered @shortandsweetsa is not only barely a block away from my office, but also creates the vital Pistachio Kataifi “Dubai Bars” I’ve been dying to try (watch to the end when I unbox them and break one open). I was a literal kid in a candy store - and also nabbed a box of Hazelnut Crunch Bars. The verdict? I shared them with Luke; who said “this is world-class” - and, considering I bring him the best chocolates I can find in Paris 👌🏼 @shortandsweetsa deliver if you’re not in the area to collect. Trust me on this one.

She’s back! If you watched my reel 2 months or so, you’d know I was feeling quite disheartened with my weight-loss progress (having only lost around 300g this year; despite all the work I’ve been putting in - working out 5 times a week, calorie deficit). So, after some blood work showed my blood sugar was high (I’m insulin resistant, thanks to bad genetic luck and my PCOS) - I went onto meds that have lowered it (but, made no impact on my weight). Through my research (I joke that my body and health is my hobby, but I’m truly fascinated to learn how my body works), I learned that intermittent fasting has been shown to work for insulin-resistant bodies: both helping to lower blood sugar, and to help with weightloss. Under the guidance of my doctor, I’ve been doing 16:8 intermittent fasting - and it seems to be working! 1.7kg down in 2 weeks (not changing what I’m eating, just WHEN I’m eating it) - so, I’m thrilled to see my body is responding well. This isn’t medical advice, I’m not a doctor - but, this is an invitation to get to know your body, do your research - and find what works for YOU. There truly is no one-size-fits all solution, and “eat less, move more” just…isn’t always enough.

I 👏🏼 bought 👏🏼 it! I’ve been on a clothes shopping ban for the past few months - and while I broke it for this SPECTACULAR, whimsical number from @stylerotate - the past few months have made me much more conscious of my spending and shopping habits: how I used to mindlessly scroll online stores in the evenings (like an additional social media platform) - even when I didn’t “need” anything. I also know a few people weren’t 💯 convinced when I shared this dress here last week - and, I’ve learned that me loving something is enough. It doesn’t have to be fashionable. It doesn’t have to be flattering. No one else has to like it. It just needs to make me happy. And, friends, I adore this (and have already dedicated suitcase space to it, so it can come with me to Paris).

It fits so much (including your charger, notebook - even a few make up essentials) - I have it on good authority from the younger crowd at the office that I can “go to a bar after work with it and not look ugly”. An evening celebrating @capetownopera’s 25th Anniversary, with the restaging of its first-ever production: Lucia di Lammermoor. A truly spectacular evening, Brittany Smith is phenomenal as Lucia (scroll through to watch - and hear - the standing ovation), and it’s always a thrill watching Conroy Scott on stage. Inside tip: @therockefellerct is around the corner and a beacon of hope in the barren wasteland of the foreshore - the perfect spot to pop in for a drink and bite to eat before the show (swipe for our 👌🏼 wine choice and sushi). So, what’s in my glass? I’ve been using @chemistrynatural_science’s PLUMP for the past few weeks…and, honestly - don’t be fooled by the name. While it does indeed “plump” your skin (thanks to magnesium, creative and collagen), it’s so much more than simply an aesthetic supplement.

The two types of collagen also promote joint health, pre- and probiotics combine with 5 digestive enzymes to help with bloating and gut health - there’s calcium, antioxidants…it really is a powerhouse.

Personally, I love that it helps reduce muscle stiffness (no more suffering two-days post leg day), and I mean, I’m not against having better hair and skin, too 💁🏼‍♀️

I’m just over a month into my self-imposed-clothing-shopping-ban, and it’s given me more time to observe the “trends” doing the rounds - and, how easy it is to just follow along - in an attempt to fit in, to be accepted or to play it safe. Instead, maybe we can wear…what makes us happy? What we love? What makes us feel good? And be damned whether that’s in fashion at the moment, or what all the cool kids are wearing? Just…maybe.

A natural (very curly, very boring mouse-brown) brunette, my bleached, straightened and heat-treated hair is pretty much a hobby in itself - so, I was happy to be introduced to @tonic.institute: a simple, results-driven haircare system developed with plant-based active ingredients to boost overall scalp and hair health.
