Conrad Pezula Knysna

Ah, Conrad Pezula was always going to be a highlight – from the moment I received my itinerary. I’m thrilled to share that they didn’t disappoint – if you’re looking for true 5* hospitality in Knysna, this is your answer.

We were invited as a group of media to enjoy oysters, bubbly and lunch at their restaurant, Cafe Z. Walking in, enjoying a glass of bubbly in the lounge area, the service and decor constantly reminded you that you were in a special part of the country.

Bubbly firmly in hand, we were seated and feasted on the most delicious bread – individual ciabatta rolls, seeded bubbles – beautiful. Paired with locally sourced butter, you can taste the difference. Later in the day I may have regretted loving these rolls a little too much. But in the moment, they were heaven.

Onto the oysters – the reason we were there. They’re signature dish for the festival was half and half – half a dozen oysters, half naked, the other half topped with pineapple granita and lime zest. Conrad Pezula provided, undoubtedly, the best oysters I ate throughout the entire festival – with their entry for Flavours of Knysna also exceptional (more on that to come soon).

On to lunch – I ordered the confit duck with pickled pearl onions, white bean ragout and gremolata – orders of Caesar salad, soup, steak, quick and pasta were spread throughout our table – with not one complaint heard. My duck was tender, sweet and delectably meaty. Perhaps a more hearty main dish than I should have ordered, in hindsight.

Dessert was decided almost the instant we sat down – whisky ice cream in a chocolate cookie sandwich with salted caramel popcorn. Could you say no? Thought not. After a truly indulgent lunch, we ended it the way we started. Deliciously and decadently.

Thank you Conrad Pezula for showing us true five star hospitality and food. You will always be on our Knysna ‘must visit’ list.

We enjoyed our meal as guests of Conrad Pezula. All images and views are my own.
