Introducing the DeskStand

Sometimes our work situation confuses people, and, we can’t blame them. I have a day job – in an office, a real one that pays the bills – and blog from home in the evenings and on the weekends. Luke also has a full-time job, but he works from home all the time.

So, having a good set-up for working from home is pretty important to us both. We’ve converted our second bedroom into a study, allowing Luke to have his own space to make clients’ website dreams come true. After working from a traditional seated desk for years, he made the switch to a standing desk set-up earlier this year, but in quite the DIY fashion. While it worked for what he needed, it looked pretty terrible and wasn’t at all the professional work environment we wanted to create.

Enter, the DeskStand.  The team there took pity on our DIY efforts and sent a Jumbo DeskStand to take our study from teenage-dorm-room to working professional. If the concept of standing desks is new to you, head on over here to read about some of the benefits. After my recent massage and all the pain and knots that were discovered in my lower back, I completely understand why sitting for 90% of your day is pretty much the worst thing you can do for your body. (An important note – DeskStands can be adjusted to allow you to sit and stand throughout the day, because balance is important.)

The team at DeskStand realise that standing for prolonged periods can take some getting used to, and help users ease into the change with a Two Week StandWorking™ Challenge. For those who are on their feet for more than 4 hours a day, they’ve also developed a Anti-Fatigue Foam Mat, which helps take strain off your legs and heels.

After all of this – what did we think? Apart from being very easy on the eye, the DeskStand also comes with a host of thoughtful features to make sure your workspace is as efficient and productive as possible – including a slot for your table and gap for any charging or power cables. If you spend most of your day behind a desk – and have the flexibility to change your setup – I’d highly recommend one. Your back will thank you.

Note: We receieved a DeskStand and Anti-Fatigue Foam Mat for review purposes, at no charge. All images and views are my own.
