Two summer wardrobe essentials

After the closure of my favourite online retailer, I’ve had to broaden my search when it comes to looking for great clothes and beautiful dresses online.

Barely a few weeks later, HomeChoice got in touch and asked if I wanted to work together on a few posts, showing a selection of what they have available in their online store – and I immediately jumped on board. As their name suggestions, they’re known for their rage of home ware (which I’ll share more on in a separate post) – but, also stock ladies and menswear, appliances, accessories and more. Of course, I had to start with the pretty dresses, didn’t I?

I’ve wanted to try the dress-and-leather-jacket combination for ages, but have never found a jacket that fitted properly – either too tight on the arms, or too baggy on the shoulders, or fitting on the arms and oversized everywhere else. I knew I was taking a risk ordering one online without trying it on first – but, it was a risk that definitely paid off. I’m wearing the Lila dress in a 20 and Leia jacket in an 18. I hardly need to explain why a floral dress is a summer essential, but for the jacket – I think it’s perfect for cooler evenings, and as it will always be an investment piece, it makes sense to get as much wear as possible throughout the year.

A note on sizing – I sized two sizes up with the dress, as I knew it had buttons across the chest area, and there’s nothing worst than gaping buttons that pull open when you sit down. I sized one up with the jacket, in case I wanted to wear a jersey underneath when it’s cooler.

Here are a few other items from HomeChoice’s clothing category that caught my eye:

Leia leather jacket (up to size 22) // Lila dress (up to size 18) // Isabella kimono dress (up to size 18)

Cleo dress (up to size 22) // Jessica dress (up to size 20) // Gabrielle dress (up to size 18)

This dress – and actually, this entire look – is also something I can imagine working quite well with a pair of sneakers. So, keep an eye out on Instagram for another take on this dress and jacket.
