It’s time to bookmark Travelstart’s upcoming birthday sale

I don’t know whether it’s because I now work in hospitality, or whether I’ve just come back from a little adventure with Rovos Rail – but, my feet are itching for more opportunities to travel.

While the thought of visas and the accompanying paperwork is more than I’m willing to put myself through at the moment, my mind is now going towards more local travel and visa-free options. Whether it’s exploring our own, beautiful country – perhaps Mpumpalanga, Limpopo or KwaZulu-Natal, or further afield into Africa, it seems as though a Travelstart sale is the perfect time to start planning – let’s not forget their Black Friday promotion last year, too.

If you need a little inspiration to plan your next escape, Travelstart has compiled a list of the most popular flight routes and destinations for South Africans in 2018 – based on an analysis of more than 800 000 individual trips booked on Travelstart.co.za since the start of 2017.

The top five international destinations for 2018 are:

  • Harare (Zimbabwe)
  • London (UK)
  • Windhoek (Namibia)
  • Mauritius
  • New York City (U.S.A.)

The top five domestic destinations for 2018 are:

  • Cape Town
  • Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo Airport)
  • Durban
  • Johannesburg (Lanseria Airport)
  • Port Elizabeth

And, while both lists provide insight into popular routes to help you choose your next destination and take advantage of their birthday sale, I have another list I like to refer to, as well – the useful list of countries that South Africans can go to without a visa. From Mauritius to Tanzania, the Bahamas to Kenya – why not leave the paperwork behind when you plan your next escape?
